Chicago marathon

Being a Chicago based running club, our long distance athletes often focus on the Chicago Marathon, one of the fastest in the world. In their own back yard, our elite and club runners can train and focus on achieving Personal Bests with teamwork, culture and our run coaching. Through hard work, consistency and passion; 80% or more of our athletes have been hitting their best times for years while also taking the top spots for Men and Women in Illinois.

shamrock shuffle

To kick off the racing season here in Chicago is the Shamrock Shuffle; a flat fast 8k run in March throughout the Windy City. Not only does it set the table for some fast times, but also it serves as one of the only scored team races in the Midwest. Club and Elite teams from all over the state and country come to race. In this highly competitive race; SCTC is the only Illinois based team to ever win the team competition. In 2018, our Women’s team took first followed by our Men’s team duplicating that feat in 2019 and since 2014, SCTC has had the top team in Illinois for Men and Women.

local, national and abroad

Even though we are a Chicago based track club, we work with many athletes all over and many SCTC athletes routinely compete in races regionally, nationally and overseas. Some of these include the Indy Monumental Half and Full Marathon, Portland Track Festival and major marathons such as New York, Boston, Berlin, London and Tokyo. On top of that; SCTC athletes have qualified 16 x to the US Olympic Marathon Trials and in 2022, Colin Mickow represented Team USA at the IAAF World Championships; the first Illinois based athlete since 1980.
